The 2019 Annual Meeting will be held at Stoweflake Resort, Stowe, Vermont on October 16-18
Since CIBO was formed over forty years ago, industrial energy production and use has changed. With the 2011 promulgation of the Boiler MACT regulations and a global focus on sustainability, energy has changed beyond what anyone might have imagined or seen and continues to change at unprecedented rates today. In today’s manufacturing environment, energy is a commodity, usually without concern unless it is not there. For a very large majority of the population energy just happens, doesn’t cost enough to notice and is not thought about. Since you cannot make of do anything without energy, for those of us that make or supply the energy to those who make or do anything, it is a new and complicated world. Climate Change, financial viability, social responsibility global demands and public sentiment complicate the situation. The discussion around sustainability directly links energy to all of these both positively and negatively. Thinking and seeing into the future is difficult. Hence, this year’s Annual Meeting Theme:
20/20 Vision for a Sustainable Energy Future
CIBO believes energy is a primary necessity for a vibrant domestic economy and any thoughts of a sustainable future. Today, Sustainability is not just a discussion regarding policy. It is now something that must be achieved, measured and reported in many cases. Policies, goals and objectives now have to be implemented. Within the backdrop of the changes going on with industrial, institutional, commercial and residential energy, what CIBO does can have significant benefits for CIBO member companies as they work with and talk to their employees, local, state and national governments, investors, and the public to demonstrate their sustainability and social responsibility. At this year’s Annual Meeting, we will work to clarify our vision to get a much better view of what 2020 will look like as we prepare to respond to twists and turns that will be coming at us.
