| Phenix Limited, LLC, located in Oxnard, California is a technology management firm that provides a "field demonstrated" coal fired combustion process that simply prevents the formation of sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx). Called the Clean Combustion SystemTM (CCS), the CCS is a hybrid of coal-gasification and over-fire air integrated within the boiler. Limestone, added to the pulverized coal provides the calcium to capture sulfur, and is the only "chemical" required. A CCS boiler retrofit will address EPA’s stringent Clean Air Interstate Rules (CAIR) for emissions with improved boiler efficiency and improved operating cost. A CCS retrofit controls SO2 and NOx emissions, thus providing waivers of PSD (Prevention of Significant Deterioration), and NSPS (New Source Performance Standards) as allowed by the 1990 Clean Air Act Amendments. The emissions reduction also avoids NSR (New Source Review) issues. A CCS application to a 125mmBtu/h industrial stoker boiler is in work. Phenix provides the CCS technology and performance warranty, the engineering & design consulting services, equipment supply and the necessary commissioning & start up of the retrofit unit. The client will provide the installation and construction of the equipment.
