Fluid Bed XXI Conference
June 2-4, 2008
Hilton Oak Lawn, Oak Lawn, Illinois
With Boiler MACT vacated by the courts last year and EPA working on a revision of those rules; and, EPA and OSM working on new rules/guidance on Coal Combustion Waste (CCW), there is greater uncertainty than ever. High fuel prices and a drive for Climate Change Legislation are making many think of solid fuel, especially Bio-fuel, as a way to save money and comply into the future. Today’s Fluidized Bed Technology is a combustion technology capable of meeting almost all state and federal environmental requirements when using locally available, lower cost solid fuels across the full range of boiler sizes, from the small 40,000 PPH commercial/institutional units through the 150,000 PPH – 400,000 PPH industrial units to the large 300 Mega Watt utility and IPP units. Understanding the capabilities and application of these systems and ways to add or increase the use of Bio-fuels is imperative to minimize the use of natural gas and help secure a reasonable future.
This year’s conference will bring the equipment designers, operators, and support personnel together to discuss and better understand the state of the industry. The Monday afternoon owners’ only and manufacturers’ & suppliers’ only forums will, again, provide an ideal opportunity for this discussion and a broader education through their review and presentation in the Tuesday general session. Along with this, the conference will include: the presentation of the results of the CIBO Annual FBC Survey; the latest FBC technology developments; and presentations and discussion on important operations and maintenance topics, including fuel handling, limestone sizing, water treatment and replacement parts, to name a few. This year’s tours on Wednesday will include tours of the new Corn Products CFBC Unit in Bedford Park, Illinois and the NALCO water treatment research facility in Naperville, Illinois.
This is the place to find the people who understand the fuels and how to convert them to efficient, effective and usable energy in an environmental sound and economically beneficial way.
