If you own a boiler or Industrial, Commercial or Institutional (ICI) energy source greater than Three MillionBtu/hr Heat Input, you probably know or should know these terms: 112j Part 1 and Part 2, Boiler MACT,Area Source MACT, CAIR Plus or Industrial CAIR, State SIPs, control technology, performance standards, annual tune-ups, SSM, CISWI Fuel/Waste definition, Green House Gases, NSPS, RPS, energy efficiency, NSR and a host of others. If you do not know what these are or how they impact you today, as compared to even six months ago, you should find a way to Portland, ME, this August. On January 20, 2009, 'Change' arrived and we are in the middle of it.
There has probably never been a time when more was happening to impact the ICI Sectors than at thispresent time. No ICI boiler is exempt - no matter how small, no matter where you are located. All emissions are being considered -- NOx, SO2, Particulate, CO, HCI, Mercury and CO2 - that will impact the way we run our boilers and how we will be able to meet the environmental needs of the country and help states comply with National Ambient Air Quality Standards and other Air regulations.
Understanding the current situation; the potential rules and regulations and their timing; the applicability, operation capabilities, and limitations of control technologies; and, the alternatives compliance possibilities is imperative especially in this time of economic uncertainty. This conference will focus on ICI boilers' energy generation systems and include owners', manufacturers' and suppliers' and NGO and regulators' only forums to help generate valuable discussion between the groups and a truly beneficial conference for everyone. The conference will be arranged in panels with limited numbers of highly qualified speakers and ample time for participant and case study discussion.
The current environmental climate is pushing the demand for maximum performance, emissions reductionand efficiency. How do you get these out of existing systems? How does the industrial or institutionalsystem continue to survive and take advantage of alternative fuels today and tomorrow? What are the control alternatives and possibilities with existing industrial units? What does it take to keep these units operating safely, at peak performance and meet the new requirements?
